Thanksgiving

It’s thanksgiving in Canada today. Our house is recovering from hosting the family last night. Our little kid is napping. Our big kid is playing Minecraft.

Melissa and I are talking about life since we started The Co-pour. It makes us feel all kinds of thankful. Thankful for the experiences we’ve had that have given us the material and education to write about here. Thankful for the incredible support we’ve gotten from you.

In the last 7 weeks we’ve written 15 articles (plus a few re-posted from other sources). That’s our part. But you folks have shared and amplified and supported what we’ve written, even when you disagreed, and that’s been massive. You have driven about 100,000 views so far, and we feel like we’re just getting started. Your follows have put the co-pour in the top 300 Medium publications globally. We’ve had half a dozen offers of syndication and a lot of excellent conversations that would not have happened otherwise.

I have days when I feel like I have nothing to write about, and days when I spin up 3 or 4 drafts at once. I still often don’t know if a new post will be an explosive hit (Unlimited Vacation and How Fucked Up is Your Management are easily my biggest posts, for Melissa, it’s her Mat Leave post) or a slow burn. We’ve both noticed that popular posts aren’t necessarily the ones that generate the most conversations for us.

The conversations are why we do it. We have both had the opportunity to learn from so many amazing people, in such different organizations. We want to give back where we can.

Thanks for giving us the audience to do it. Thanks for supporting us out loud with tweets and recommends, and privately in DMs and conversations over coffee. Thanks.
